Role overview
Pagemasters North America (PMNA) is hiring a temporary part-time copy editor/paginator to support a busy news production workflow for an American print newspaper client. This is a remote opportunity, but applicants must be based in Canada. The schedule typically involves one to three shifts per week, mainly in the evenings, with some shifts running as late as 12:30 a.m. ET, plus regular Saturday and Sunday coverage.

- Applying strong editorial judgment in a fast-moving newsroom setting.

- Working with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Drawing on a journalism background to support production-quality news pages.
- Handling sports-related material when needed; experience in this area is considered an advantage.
Candidate profile
- You should bring hands-on experience in copy editing, proofreading, and newspaper page design.
- You must be able to produce accurate headlines and display text.
- You need sound news judgment and the ability to manage daily turnaround demands.
- A journalism background is expected for success in this position.
- Sports editing experience will strengthen your application.
Working arrangement
This position is temporary and part-time, with work performed remotely from anywhere in Canada. The role requires evening availability and weekend shifts, and some shifts may extend until 12:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
Compensation and benefits
- Hourly pay is set on a wage grid of approximately $21 to $25 per hour.
- Eligible part-timers receive a matching pension contribution plan.
- Part-time staff are provided with three paid sick days per year.
- Internet costs are reimbursed at $25 per month.
- Leadership shifts include an additional premium.
