Role overviewThis position is focused on end-to-end support for global product safety and hazard communication activities. The work includes preparing and maintaining product safety documents, carrying out hazard classification, assisting with regulatory submissions, and keeping product safety information accurate and well controlled. The role supports bp’s ability to sell products across global portfolios by combining documentation, regulatory, and data governance responsibilities.Core responsibilitiesThe role involves creating, updating, publishing, and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and label content for products in multiple international markets by using established templates, systems, and workflows. All outputs must remain correct, internally consistent, and aligned with the relevant hazard communication rules and internal quality standards.You will also assess hazard classifications for substances and mixtures by applying frameworks such as GHS, EU CLP, US OSHA HazCom, and other country-specific requirements. This work relies on phys-chem, toxicological, eco-toxicological, and composition data, with more complex or unclear cases escalated appropriately and supported through background analysis.Another key part of the job is supporting regulatory notifications and product safety dossiers, including submissions such as EU CLP/Poison Centre Notifications or equivalent where relevant. You will help implement regulatory changes that affect SDSs, labels, and product safety records, following agreed instructions and deadlines.In addition, the role requires collecting, checking, and maintaining product data needed for compliant documentation, including supplier SDSs, composition records, and other regulatory inputs. You will work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to close data gaps, resolve inconsistencies, and ensure information is stored correctly in stewardship systems.The position also includes using product stewardship and SDS authoring tools, such as Sphera IA or similar platforms, to create deliverables, manage records, and preserve traceability. You may also support user acceptance testing, regression testing, and feedback loops aimed at improving tool usability, data quality, and process efficiency.Quality assurance is another important area of the job. This includes peer review, document checking, and consistency review activities to help ensure right-first-time delivery. You may also prepare routine reports and trackers and contribute ideas for simpler workflows, better templates, and less rework.RequirementsA bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline such as Toxicology, Biology, Environmental Science, or an equivalent field.Generally 8 or more years of experience in product safety, hazard communication, SDS authoring, regulatory compliance, or product data management.Hands-on experience with SDS authoring or product stewardship systems, along with handling controlled or regulated product documentation.Practical knowledge of creating and maintaining SDSs and labels.Ability to classify hazards and apply hazard communication regulations accurately.Experience managing product safety data and related information.Comfort using digital stewardship, authoring, and reporting tools.Working understanding of global product safety and regulatory requirements.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and accurately.High attention to detail, strong accountability, and a quality-first mindset.Collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with global teams.Good judgement to identify issues and know when to raise them or seek support.Interest in continuous improvement, learning, and process enhancement.Ways of working and complianceYou are expected to follow bp’s OMS 7.5 Product Stewardship and assurance practices, maintain audit readiness, and actively support ongoing improvements to processes and systems.Additional informationThis is a full-time onsite role based in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.The job requires end-to-end product safety support across global portfolios and participation in cross-functional, international collaboration.No stipend or salary details were provided in the source.
