Role overviewThe Senior Sub Editor will be responsible for polishing Hindi news stories for a fast-moving digital newsroom. This position calls for strong Hindi language skills, sound editorial judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to stay composed while working to tight timelines. The role also includes supporting and coaching junior colleagues while helping maintain consistently high editorial quality.Core responsibilitiesEdit and proofread Hindi news articles, features, and related content to improve grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, clarity, factual correctness, and alignment with the publication’s style and editorial guidelines.Write engaging and accurate headlines, subheads, and captions that draw readers in while staying true to the story.Improve content for digital consumption by focusing on readability, search visibility, and social sharing, including suggesting useful keywords and clean formatting.Verify facts and source material thoroughly to protect accuracy and uphold journalistic standards.Refine story structure, sequencing, and presentation so articles are easier to read and more effective for audiences.Check that images, videos, and other multimedia assets are appropriately placed and of suitable quality.Ensure all published material follows legal and ethical rules, including copyright and defamation requirements.Coordinate closely with reporters and other editorial team members to improve stories and publish them on time.Guide, support, and mentor junior sub-editors and trainees by sharing best practices and editorial techniques.Stay current with news developments, digital journalism trends, and evolving Hindi usage.Use the content management system and related digital publishing tools efficiently.Help preserve strong editorial standards across all published content.Take part in editorial planning meetings and contribute ideas for content development and improvement.Be available for shift-based work, including evenings, weekends, and night shifts.Qualifications and experienceThe ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Hindi Literature, or a similar discipline. A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as a sub-editor in a respected Hindi news organization is expected, ideally in a digital media environment. The role requires excellent command over Hindi, strong news judgment, familiarity with SEO, confidence in using CMS platforms, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Preferred strengthsExperience working with multimedia editing tools.Working knowledge of Hindi Mangal font, which is essential for this role.Exposure to analytics tools for reviewing how content performs.Additional informationCandidates interested in the role are expected to send their resume to the provided company email address.
