Role Overview
Join the Database team in Dublin and help build dependable, scalable online services that support millions of players worldwide. This role is focused on improving the internal database platform, strengthening self-service capabilities for other teams, and helping the organization move further into cloud-based technologies.
The position is based in the Dublin, Ireland office and follows an onsite schedule of four days per week. The company may adjust work arrangements when business needs require it.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, support, and enhance the database tooling platform, including improvements to self-service workflows and cloud-oriented capabilities.
- Work with other teams that use database technology and respond to their needs effectively.
- Influence the software and tooling architecture with a strong focus on reliability for both players and internal users.
- Design systems that remain scalable and easy to maintain as usage grows.
- Take ownership of delivered features, services, and tooling.
- Participate in design discussions and review code from teammates.
- Help customer-facing teams launch new functionality for game studio partners and provide support to colleagues across regions.
- Collaborate with engineers to resolve technical issues and deliver a strong customer experience.
- Mentor others on effective approaches to database tooling development and integration.
Required Experience and Technical Background
Applicants should bring at least 7 years of software engineering experience, including work in a critical production service environment. Strong programming ability is essential, with particular depth in Python and experience across multiple languages.
Experience designing tools or platforms for other engineers is important, along with the ability to explain good API and tool design. The role also calls for hands-on database design experience, including MySQL and NoSQL systems, plus familiarity with container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
Success in this role depends on strong communication across teams, sound networking knowledge covering TCP, HTTP, TLS, and similar protocols, and the ability to analyze requirements and make practical design decisions. A curious mindset, strong problem-solving ability, and comfort working independently on complex tasks are also expected. A collaborative and positive working style is essential.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Background in Golang software engineering.
- Exposure to continuous integration and agile ways of working.
- Experience building backend services, including RESTful APIs, as well as working with Linux and open-source technologies.
- Experience supporting large-scale services with millions of concurrent users.
