Role overview
The Planning, Production & Logistics Manager will report to the Head of India Sourcing Office and take charge of production planning, factory coordination, and export execution with vendors across India. The position is highly practical and delivery-focused, with a strong need for regular factory engagement, disciplined follow-up, and quick resolution of operational issues.
Primary objective
The role is expected to secure the right production capacity, keep execution on track, safeguard delivery commitments, and help improve overall operational results.
Key responsibilities
- Share demand forecasts and seasonal volume plans with suppliers.
- Assist in booking capacity and allocating production across vendors.
- Review and confirm production launch schedules with the Regional Planning team.
- Set up and release production orders in the relevant systems.
- Establish critical milestones and track them through the production cycle.
- Follow supplier progress closely through recurring reviews.
- Spot schedule slippages early and drive recovery plans.
- Assess lead times and minimum order levels and challenge them when appropriate.
- Maintain frequent contact with factories, including travel within India as needed.
- Keep suppliers aligned with Sourcing, Development, and Quality teams.
- Monitor whether confirmed delivery dates are being met.
- Raise operational risks promptly and in a structured way.
- Help resolve production mismatches and warehouse-related discrepancies.
- Match production invoices against agreed pricing and quantities received.
- Oversee shipment readiness and export paperwork.
- Coordinate preferential origin declarations with Customs teams.
- Check that all documents are accurate and compliant.
- Track on-time delivery performance.
- Communicate shipment status, updates, and delays to internal stakeholders.
- Enter negotiated prices and production data into systems.
- Maintain accuracy of quantities, dates, and minimums in records.
- Support suppliers in using Lacoste IT and logistics tools.
- Prepare and circulate KPI updates on production and delivery performance.
- Measure supplier execution performance and conduct structured reviews.
- Train suppliers on logistics processes and operational standards.
- Back continuous improvement efforts aimed at stronger efficiency and reliability.
Experience and profile
The ideal candidate should have 10 to 20 years of experience in production planning, factory operations, or supply chain roles within the apparel or textile sector. A solid grasp of garment manufacturing workflows and the Indian factory landscape is essential, along with prior exposure to export operations and international shipping. The role also calls for strong analytical ability, excellent organization, a solution-oriented approach, and clear coordination and communication skills. Advanced Excel capability and working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and OrliWeb are required. Fluency in English is necessary, Hindi is required, and additional regional languages will be an advantage. The candidate must also be willing to travel regularly to vendor sites.
