Role OverviewThis opportunity is for an academic leader who is more interested in building the learning system than merely evaluating it. The role calls for strong subject expertise, the ability to turn learning quality into practical rubrics and AI-based controls, and a bias toward action even when information is incomplete. A genuine focus on student progress and accountability for those outcomes is essential.2 Hour Learning operates with a radically different model from traditional education: there are no teachers, textbooks, or conventional instructional supports under the product. AI is the backbone of the system. In this role, you will use it to create and improve learning materials, design interventions, monitor quality, and help evolve the platform. The pace is closer to high-performing technology, consulting, or finance environments than to a typical school setting, with direct ownership of subject-level student outcomes across campuses. You will manage a function, not just contribute as an individual. That means building AI-enabled improvements to the learning ecosystem, responding to student performance indicators with targeted interventions, documenting evidence-based decisions, and leading a team accountable to clear standards tied to MAP, AP, SAT, and ISEE results. You will also work closely with product, engineering, and data science partners to influence platform direction. This role is best suited to someone who naturally leans on AI, performs their own analysis, works effectively amid ambiguity, and takes full responsibility for results. It will be a poor fit for anyone who prefers long consensus cycles, low personal accountability, or the comfort of established methods. As a core leader in the academics team, your standards and judgment will directly shape subject performance and the broader learning system. What You Will DoImprove the learning ecosystem by using AI to refine subject-specific K–12 experiences, including content, adaptive learning paths, and student interventions informed by feedback, analytics, assessments, and coaching insights.Create and execute targeted academic interventions for students or cohorts who are falling behind, using signals from MAP, AP, SAT, ISEE, and similar assessments.Maintain clear, repeatable decision records that explain how student performance issues were addressed, backed by dashboards, analytics, tickets, surveys, coaching conversations, and assessment data.Write implementation-ready improvement specs for product, engineering, and data science teams, including the problem statement, evidence, expected student impact, and acceptance criteria. What This Role Is NotIt is not about masking traditional schooling with an AI layer; the goal is to rethink learning from first principles. It is not about reviewing data without direct student contact; ongoing interaction with K–12 learners is expected, and their feedback is treated as essential customer input. It is not a role for waiting on consensus before challenging outdated assumptions; the expectation is to lead with a bold, data-backed point of view.It is not constrained by conventional education practices; you will have room to experiment with new approaches to motivation, assessment, and instruction. It is not suitable for someone uncomfortable with AI; here, AI is expected to be a major driver of educational transformation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead innovation in AI-powered, teacher-free education so that students achieve strong outcomes across multiple campuses. Combine analytics with consistent student engagement to continuously improve the learning ecosystem, with success measured by AP performance and MAP growth.RequirementsA master’s degree or higher in Educational Science, Learning Science, Psychology, Psychometrics, Instructional Design, or a closely related discipline. At least 5 years of experience in academic leadership or EdTech leadership, including direct people management duties such as hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and termination decisions.Hands-on use of AI tools in daily professional work, along with a willingness to depend on AI extensively to improve academic and operational results.Strong grounding in learning science concepts such as Cognitive Load Theory and Mayer’s Multimedia Principles, plus a data-oriented approach to education.About the Organization2 Hour Learning is trying to prove that education can work far better than the traditional one-size-fits-all model.
