Role Overview
Avanceon Middle East & South Asia is hiring a Maintenance Engineer focused on SCADA for its O&M team supporting the Ashghal Road Tunnel Program in Qatar. The position is centered on keeping critical automation and infrastructure systems stable, secure, and consistently available across multiple tunnel locations.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, maintaining high-availability systems, and contributing to an environment where reliable performance has a direct impact on safety and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on SCADA nodes and control-room systems.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to software, communications, alarms, and system performance.
- Manage patching, backups, redundancy validation, and failover tests.
- Track historian information, alarm activity, system integrations, and the overall health of the SCADA environment.
- Prepare and maintain operational logs, root-cause analysis reports, maintenance records, and change documentation.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and internal stakeholders on improvements, escalations, and technical follow-up.
- Assist with cybersecurity-related tasks, asset lifecycle activities, and system upgrade work.
Required Profile
- 5 to 6 years of practical experience maintaining SCADA systems; experience in infrastructure or utilities is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of AVEVA System Platform, InTouch/OMI, Historian, and Galaxy Repository.
- Exposure to PLC platforms such as Schneider, Siemens, or Rockwell.
- Good grasp of OPC UA/DA, industrial networking, redundancy setup, and remote system architecture.
- Strong troubleshooting ability, with clear reporting and communication skills.
- A Qatar driving licence would be an added plus.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- AVEVA System Platform certification is strongly preferred.
- Additional networking or cybersecurity certifications are beneficial.
