About the Role

Westpac New Zealand is seeking an Application Support Engineer to help run and support the operational environment for the Balance Sheet Risk and Securitisation streams. The role focuses on the day-to-day operation of a high-performance computing platform used to measure, report on, and analyse balance sheet risk outcomes, including interest rate risk, transfer pricing, cost of funds, and hedge accounting for Treasury stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep daily operations running smoothly and investigate as well as resolve issues when they occur.
  • Support deployment activity through DevOps pipelines using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
  • Maintain clear, current documentation for systems and processes.
  • Work with internal engineering teams in New Zealand and Australia, as well as external suppliers, to address and prevent incidents.
  • Help ensure services consistently meet SLA commitments and comply with internal standards and policies.
  • Partner with squad members to enhance the platform and deliver roadmap initiatives.
  • Contribute as a collaborative team member in cross-functional work focused on quality and user experience outcomes.
  • Support Power BI reporting and related enhancements.
  • Participate in on-call support and occasional weekend work.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in technology or a related discipline.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for technology and solving technical problems.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience supporting applications in a Microsoft-based environment.
  • Exposure to some of the following tools and platforms is preferred: Control-M, Snowflake, SQL scripting, QRM Manager, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Platform, Dynatrace, PagerDuty, Splunk, HashiCorp Vault, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
